To me, happiness seems to be a worthless pursuit because the feeling of happiness dissipates very quickly. We do something to make ourselves feel happy and the very next day or next hour we are once again on the hunt for our next happy-fix because the state of happiness we achieved the day or hour before is gone. I have become very suspicious of experiencing the feeling we call “happiness” because it is usually very short-lived. What is the alternative to happiness? I do not mean the opposite of happiness, I mean what is the longer-lasting replacement of happiness? Is there one? Should it even be sought after? Chasing rainbows is, I guess a noble pursuit but what if the sky is filled with clouds?
